Volunteers

 

Volunteers are an important and valued aspect of Yeovil Night Shelter Projects and without them the centre would be unable to open.       

 

What will volunteering involve?

  • Being able to give a commitment of a regular 2 hours per session perhaps each month
  • Assisting in the evening running of the drop in and activities eg making drinks, cooking a hot meal, social interaction, providing help and support to service users.
  • Attending training provided.
  • Liaising with other volunteers and staff within the shelter

What personal qualities do I need to have?

  • Empathy
  • Being supportive
  • Understanding and tolerance
  • Some level of commitment
  • Ability to accept some responsibility
  • Respect for the rights of individuals
  • Above all else a sense of humour!!

How will I benefit from being a volunteer?
